Remember the Days (and weeks and months...)

Happy New Year to all our readers! This is my first post of 2013 and I’m really excited to share with you something I’ve created for the start of what I hope is a creativity-filled year ahead.

Some years back I made calendars for family and friends as a Christmas gift but I didn’t get around to doing it for 2013. As I was clearing out my desk (an arduous task), I found some date templates that I had printed out but neglected to use.  Then I spied in my stash an acrylic display from Heidi Swapp that I swiped during a local store's closing down sale and asked myself, "Why not?"

For the cover, I had layered up journal tags, cut outs, chipboard pieces, washi tape and even the ribbon that was used to tie up a package of scrapbook supplies.  I love the mistable alphas from American Crafts.  They are just so versatile and can be used for any kind of project.

Putting together the pages for each month was a challenge. I cut out patterned paper from collections that I thought would match the sentiments of that month likeValentine’s for February, summer for July and August, Christmas for December etc. It was not as easy as I thought, since I have accumulated so much paper that I liked and it was tough deciding which ones to use! Besides, I really had to control the urge to just layer and layer or else the final product would become an ugly bulging mess.

The template I had proved useful when putting the pages of the calendar together.

Well, that is all I have for you today.

Until my next post, keep creating!

  2. I do calendars every year but they never look like this! I do find them hard work at a time which is very busy, so this year I've done most of it in January. The only shame about this, is that noone will ever see the gorgeous front of it :-)
